purapea | RE: KH 358/2 Days trailer

This is just me rambling about my reaction to KH 358/2 days trailer which I only just saw. B|
For those of you who haven't seen it with subs:

So I finally got my youtube working again (it was being weird and not letting me watch any videos) and I went looking for this trailer, and I found the subbed ones. Although I'm excited about this game - theres no doubt about that; I am also pretty skeptical about what they are going to do with Xion, Axel and Roxas. TBH she's seeming to be a pretty big mary-sue if you ask me.

That bit with Axel shouting at her, it gives the impression that Xion means something to him, and that would directly conflict with his dying statement to Sora in KH2 which is 'He was the only one I ever liked.' Plus I think it would change his characterization. Same with the bit with Roxas. It pisses me the fuck off to see Axel giving a shit about anyone other than Roxas. I mean, come on. What. >B| There is a shitload of things that don't make sense and conflict with the first three games and I am so worried that the characterizations of Axel and Roxas are going to be compromised so that they can fit Xion in.

It sucks, mainly because the majority of the people looking forward to this game ship Axel/Roxas, and the general idea that fandom has was that it was meant to be a game about them.

I don't know. I can only make presumptions and theorize, but I find myself very very wary and skeptical of this game now.

I'm still gonna get it, but man. I hope they don't completely change Axel and Roxas for the sake of retconning.

... it's a spinoff game to pump the huge fan following for money and adoration. Of COURSE it's going to have a self-insertable character in there. If it'll get them the fangirls, who, let's be honest, are going to make up a HUGE proportion of the target audience (plus, Disney = YOU TOO CAN BE A PRINCESS merchandising) they'll quite cheerfully murder characterisation.

If it's a good game it's a good game. If it's fallen victim to consumerist culture and is made of suck and lose, you can still icon from it.

Ugh, wouldn't you know that they have to stick another lame female character in so they can have a lead female role. And naturally, this means one of the main male characters has to have feelings for her by default, because LOL GUYS AND GIRLS CAN'T EXIST IN THE SAME STORY WITHOUT A ROMANCE!!1 You know it'll happen. You know it.

Fuck. This kind of makes me mad, in a way. I wanted a game that just centered on Axel and Roxas, plus the other org members. Why the fuck DID they stick this new chick in here? It just seems like a lame excuse for a main female role. What was so wrong with the idea of JUST Axel and Roxas being the mains? They better have a damn good reason for it, and I mean that in the least fangirly way possible. It just seems like an excuse because duh, they HAAAVE to have some sort of cliche romance in all their games. I really hope that doesn't turn out to be the case, but it feels inevitable..

I've pretty much lost all faith in Nomura to begin with, but I really hope they don't fuck it up. IMO, it's bad enough that Roxas has some secret role in BBS a la Ven as a main character. Like I said, with this new batch of games, they better have some damn good explanations because I'm really questioning it.

Romantic interests? Hnn, I guess so, but if you look at Axel in the second game it was obvious that he was a YAOI FANGIRL OMG! GAY! ploy, which worked. I dont think they'd really jeopardize what they already have - I mean I know a lot of the shippers were looking forward to the game purely for Axel/Roxas interaction. I don't know. This is all totally retarded.

I wanted the game just to be around Axel and Roxas too, and it would be cool to play as the other members. Ugh, this video just makes me so mad. I dont know what I would do if one of them were to find Xion to be a love interest. I have had my speculations though. ~~What happened to the whole nobody thing of not being able to FEEL?~~ Its kinda funny how people bitch about the lack of females in Kingdom Hearts, and then when one is added everyone hates her before they play the game.

I think I could deal with Xion if she had a sort of had a relationship with Roxas in the sense that she and him had a rivalry? And it didn't include Axel. But, the fact that Axel was being all OH NOES WE NEED TO BRING YOU BACK NO MATTER WAT!!!! kinda makes me go what the fuck.

I have too, I am worried that these games will be the end of KH. Ughghhh I don't want to think about this.

I don't hate that there are girls in KH, I just hate that all of them suck. Kairi was a whiny, one-dimensional twat, and I never was fond of Namine's soft-spoken innocence. Nomura sucks at creating dynamic female characters, and that's the only reason I have a problem with this new potential mary-sue. If they pull it off, I'm cool with it. But the idea that she's going to suck as bad as the rest of them is what bothers me. I'm not foaming at the mouth that O GOD SOMEONE STEPPING IN ON ROXAS OR AXEL, THEY R FOR EACH OTHER ONLYY!!1, I'm just worried about her potential fail and the fact that it's still likely that one or the other ends up harboring some feelings for her (and like you said, nobodies supposedly can't feel, WHAT). Nomura's always been better at creating better female side characters than main characters. And they DO usually stick some romantic aspect in as an additional fan pleaser. I won't hold my breath, but it still looks possible.

For some reason though, it struck me as in the trailer it's possible that she could've betrayed them in some way?? Given Axel's response anyways. Also weirded out by the fact that she looks EXACTLY LIKE KAIRI (plus she has a keyblade, as did Kairi in KH2. Which is also kind of gay, because the keyblades seemed like they were supposed to be more selective), so... what does that make Namine?

DURRR. I'll reserve judgment until I actually play the thing, but knowing Nomura's suck female characters I'm not keeping my hopes up very high.
