She is introduced as member No.14 into Organization XIII. Similar to Roxas, she is one of the few wielders of the Keyblade. Probably since it's a common feature between them, she seems to get along with Roxas well, and opportunities to hang out with both Roxas and Axel increase. Triggered by events during missions, she comes to gradually doubt her own existence.
(if someone could verify these translations, I'd be most obliged.)

Okay so on reflection of the translated trailer I'm beginning to pull some ideas together for Axel's raeg halfway through for the lines:

"Stop fooling around! What do you take me for? I've decided. No matter how often you guys run away, I'll bring you back every time."

Now when I first saw this, the translations weren't available, and it was indicating that it wasn't plural. Because of the new ones, and this new information, I can see Xion questioning her existence to the point of getting Roxas to question his. And if she runs away to try and discover her true self, I think she could probably talk Roxas into going with her. Why sit in the Organization if they can go find answers about themselves and the keyblades? Yeah. I can see Roxas leaving with her. And if Roxas leaves, Axel gets angry.

I think I could like Xion if this happened, because I can honestly see Roxas doing that, but Axel cannot like her. He'd probably be interested with her, and tolerate her, but like her? Nhhrn. I'm so worried about this game. (but fuck yes, multiplayer)

Quite frankly when KH2 came out I had the same thoughts about Roxas and the Organization.

It's a fictional character being brought in to expand and elaborate on the backstories of two OTHER fictional characters who are both secondary and revised from the ORIGINAL fictional characters. All of whom are the property of a person who can do whatever he wants with his characters, no matter how much elaboration fans have given them without his knowledge. Considering their penchant for erasing memories and dropping like flies, it's perfectly logical.

I do understand what you mean, Elle, its just really hard for me not to get agitated by this sort of thing, because I have so much love for Axel I really dont want to see his character get compromised. Well, just look at FF7. Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus completely fucked over 60% of the original game. People can choose to incorporate them into their personal canon, or they can completely ignore anything they don't like. I personally ignore anything to do with Genesis out of a hatred for him basically being Gackt and used to bring in certain fanbases.

His character isn't going to get compromised. She's one girl whose existence has either been wiped from his mind, forgotten voluntarily or just ignored during the main game. If she affected his character or personality at all, the altered form is the form you PLAY and thus no problem. How exactly is it compromising him.

Maybe it'll do the fandom some good to remember that it's just another Squeenix product and just as prone to problems and badly thought-out prequels as every other series they make and not some shining paragon of plot and character.

just because Axel said that doesnt mean that he has to like Xion. He can tolerate her. And humor Roxas for having a friend. He'd probably tease him about it in all honesty.

I'm trying really hard not to hate her w.o even seeing her character really or anything, but she gets continually more frustrating. Especially since Roxas was supposed to be Axel's only friend.

I'm simultaneously soooo excited for this game because it has the power to like double my love for fandom, and terrified of it because it also has the power to completely ruin fandom ahhhh.

Yeah. I don't want to judge her before the game comes out, but fucking hell its SO HARD. But like I said, this doesn't have to mean that Axel likes Xion? I feel like Nomura's so used to making FF games, that are all totally separate so he can do whatever the hell he wants with each one, so now that he's doing a series of games that all connect to each other he's like "what do you mean that doesn't make any sense for me to just randomly throw in this wild plot twist???? :D What's discontinuity lol?"

I'm really excited for multiplayer too. Even though I have no one to play w. lolololol oh well.

I think your explanation makes a lot of sense, but I'm STILL not holding my breath on the fact that this chick isn't going to suck. She's cute and all, I just think it was a gay idea from the beginning to stick her in there. BUT WHO KNOWS, they may pull it off. I guess I'll wait until I play the game to make a call.

I think if my explanation is closer to whats going to happen, I wont mind her. If Axel likes her, I'll be pissed >|
