the first rambling of 2010

I hope you all had a good holiday and New Year! 2010 sounds like a good year :) I haven't really posted in a while because I've been busy with a lot of off internet things since I've not been home in like 2 months and family came to stay from Bermuda and then there was a party and then otilu was here and it's been a little crazy. The house is back to being empty again, and mom's started to take down all the Christmas decorations (it's kind of sad 8( The house looks so pretty with them up) and I've got one week left before I go back to University.

I'm not sure if I'm dreading it or looking forward to it. I have two projects to hand in a couple days after I get back, neither of which I've really worked on since I've been at home, so I'm not looking forward to the all-nighters and stress that is going to go with that, but I do miss my little room and my friends. I dunno. It's weird I guess. Especially since I'm not really happy with my course and the only bits I do enjoy are the social aspects of it. Euugh. Pura make your mind up.

I think the fact that I'm very sleep deprived because I had to share my bed with my sister last night (since our extended family were still with us) and she snores so loudly that I couldn't sleep and i have work in 10 minutes and my shoulder is killing me from walking around London all yesterday with my father and his brother, it's making me grumpy. I just want to go back to bed, but I know that the moment I get back from work I have to sit down and start school work and keep at it as late as I can. Which means I'll be hecka scarce from the internet for like a week. But if I work as well as doing my schoolwork, hopefully I can finally buy my plane tickets for this summer. I've almost got enough money, just another £200 should do it, hopefully. Once those are actually booked, I'm going to feel a whole lot better.

So yeah! I'm not going to be around much at all over the next couple of weeks. I'll probably still be doing tags, but at a really slow pace.

IN OTHER NEWS I got to meet countersparking again the other weekend (Maria you are so cute omg), along with otilu and ormery, and we all went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movies, which I thought was rather excellent and I'm probably going to see it again sometime this week or next. Derp. I'm also probably seeing Avatar when I go back to uni with one of my friends since she's been obsessing over it since she read about it's production, and whilst I'm a little skeptical about the plot, I'll still give it a go.

(I ALSO SAW PRINCESS AND THE FROG, OMG I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT TO COME OUT OVER HERE SO I CAN SEE IT IN HD AND NOT A CRAPPY INTERNET STREAM. BUT IT WAS AWESOME.)

the quality was terrible, but at least I got to see it!

When is that essay actually due in for? Because I'm not sure if I should focus on all the coloring before I go back and do research on the train, or the other way around. Halp. I'm basically going to do all my colouring and edits before I go back and then write the essay in the 4 days/nights when we get back (after editing the film anyways).

Yeaaah. I just call it the 'Furry Film' because they sort of wig me out. They actually motion-captured the movement and then STRETCHED the models so they would be all gangly and stretchy. Idk. I think the render on it is beautiful, but whenever I see fanart I'm just like euuugh. I'll give it a go though!

Why do people complain about the plot of Avatar. Sure it's like 3D modern Fern Gully, but that's not the important thing. 8D

I think mainly because that cliche is so overdone to death that we're sick of seeing it. (though that could be said about things that have the 'one' person to save the world like Harry Potter etc etc) I personally would've liked a film with such beautiful graphics in it to have a beautiful storyline too, and from what I've heard it's just going to be predictable? /SHRUG

I can't really talk since I've not actually seen it yet, but yeah. If I already know what the plot is going to be like, I'm less inclined to see it. Also all the hype is sort of getting on my nerves >>

There are technically only seven plots in the entire world. The storyline is actually really well done, and predictability is only an issue when the plot doesn't do the style and production justice. You have an idea of what every film's plot will be like, that's why you choose to see the ones you do. :D As adorable and well-made as it is, even Up is an extremely cliche story, as are about 95% of all films, books and so on.

tl;dr: all plots are recycled, Avatar is an extremely good film.

Okay, I was talking to Em yesterday, and hopefully we'll be looking into getting our Comic Con hotels later this week. Still haven't heard directly back from the con people myself, but from what I hear I should still be getting to pro registration...it'll just come way later in the spring like it usually does. |D So yeah, I'll let you know what the price thing is on that, although if you know of anyone else that might be in the room as well (like Squeak) please let me know!

And yeeeeah, the plot to Avatar is predictable and "Ferngully in space." But at least it's got super-shiny effects.

I have my own reasons for being tired of Avatar, but the plot is not one of them. If it is Fern Gully in space, that's not a deterrent. I would pay a lot of money to see a giant space Tim Curry.

Yeah I guess. But I'd expect a movie as beautiful effects to have an innovative story too? Going on the generic MAN GOES TO TRIBE. MAN LIKES TRIBE. MAN FIGHTS FOR TRIBE. seems a little... I'm not sure xD I want the plot to be more interesting. From what I've heard it's just super predictable. I guess I'm just not as excited for it because I already know what the story is going to be like. MEH. I'm still going to see it though.

Yeah, you may have to wait until spring for word on the passes, but rest assured that I'll let you know about them, and you'll be getting my free pass since you're traveling the farthest. And Squeak will be totally fine to have again, although I dunno about the other two friends...I've done that before at cons (the friend-of-a-friend-but-I-don't-know-them-personally) and it was a little uncomfortable for others, so yeah. :< I'll let you know hotel info, so if they want another room in the same area that can help!

That's what I would expect too, which is where a lot of the disappointment comes in. D: They had 15 years and couldn't come up with something more original? My advice: go into it with the knowledge that you already know what will happen, and just focus on all the art and animation, especially for Pandora since that's where all the interesting stuff is. Also, are you seeing it in 3D? See it in 3D, since it's one of the rare 3D movies that actually uses the 3D as a storytelling device.

Well, technically you do know Meevs and Hati, but I'm not even sure if they're still coming anymore, so this probably wont be a problem anyways. And as long as I know the hotel we're gonna be in, I can always tell them where we are, like you said. And the passes things... I guess I'm just worried that you wont get a free pass or something, and I'll be totally screwed xD;

Yeahhh. Seriously. Wat guys. And probably, since the cinema in Newport does 3D films and don't even ask you if you want to see it in 3D or not. DERP. I'll try to go in with an animator head though. I just wish the movie would be more creative and original 8(

OH yus, I just have a terrible memory. XD; And since this is my third year with that pass I should be getting all the info on that sometime this spring. I would be surprised at this point if I didn't get them, and since you and two others who are under my name usually, if for whatever stupid reason we didn't we would still be hangin' out together. XDa But again, I'll be really surprised if that's the case.

...And WTF, at least they can ask. |D I totally feel you on wishing they'd have tried to be more original. (Unless they thought they were being original, in which case I really hope not.)
