Okay so it's official. I have some of the kindest friends ever and I am so lucky to have them @___@

Basically, hikaridonya, along with the rest of her house mates, all chipped in and bought me an early birthday present--a new DS. I was literally speechless and skfdjngkjngs. There were no words for how HAPPY AND FLAILY I WAS. I CRIED. fsdkjngkjnsgdjkjg. It's the same colour and everything, and the dead DS is still not working so I don't know how to thank them. Like literally sfdkjngkj

It's things like this that reminds me that the human race is fucking awesome.

For future reference, Pura, if your electronics get wet, the VERY WORST thing is to turn them on to see if they work. There's a chance for them to dry out and be salvaged, but they have a tendency to fry themselves if used while containing water. Instead, whatever parts you know how to safely separate, particularly battery, should be taken apart and left to dry, and only when you are certain everything is dry should you put it back together and turn it on to check on it.

Why no, I did not learn this lesson the hard way via a cellphone spazzing out and vibrating and beeping and then dying a permanent death, why do you ask?

So yes, wasn't going to share that tip/anecdote with you while you were so upset, because it would only make you feel worse if that were possible, but IN FUTURE.

My current cellphone seems immune to water. It's... uh... fallen into two puddles and still works. I am very grateful, although since unlike the last time I wound up with a submerged phone, this is not my first cellular and I've kept the old ones, it wouldn't be the end of the world were it to die.

YEAH, I worked that out when it died on me orz. I mean this is the first time I've had an experience with something electronic that was submerged in water, and though I knew about the rice thing, I didn't think it had been in the water long enough to seep into the battery. I was wrong of course, but yeah.. I'm totally never doing that again if this happens to me again. Straight into the rice for three days.
