a post where Pura probably talks about pokemon too much
WELL THAT WAS A FUN POKE-FILLED DAY. Here is a synopsis of what we did. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures :(
Got the train to Cardiff. My speed stat EV training for my shiny Mareep started about now, and I was doing it on and off all day. Fighting level 5 magikarp and trying to get your pokemon from level 9 to level 20 is so dull.
When we got into Cardiff we wandered about for a bit, going to used game stores and other places. We went to the Disney store, because some of the first years were looking for a present for one of their friends, and Disney have started selling those collectible pins in this country.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
silverbrumby123 found the softest plushie I ever have touched, and I couldn't leave it in there. It helped that it was the most adorable Bolt plushie that I've seen in a long time. *___* AND IT IS NOW MINE.
THEN WE WENT TO FORBIDDEN PLAAANET. I hate being poor. There were so many trades that I wanted to pick up, Runaways and the Terra trade specifically, but I did get a copy of Pet Avengers: Unleashed and a pack of HG/SS pokemon cards. I don't get them that often (I think I've gotten two packs in the last two years?), but it had a picture of Ampharos on the front, SO I COULDN'T REFUSE. :D
AND THEN ONTO THE ACTUAL EVENT. Oh man, I'd never seen so many DS's all on in one place, and it was actually pretty cool. We found out that they were giving out that Arceus figurine that you're only supposed to get if you pre-order both HG and SS, so I nabbed one! I also got a little Moltres too (They DIDN'T HAVE ZAPDOS 8[) and of course I got my official, level 100 Arceus from the Mystery Gift. AND THEN we went underground digging, but there wasn't anything to dig UP so in the end we just were chasing each other around the underground. I stole a flag :'D
And then. Oh then. And then I saw that the reason people were CLUSTERED around one corner of Game, was that they had four DS's hooked up. With. Demo versions for you to play. Oh my god. I did the first Gym. skjjgskjngds *_____* I officially cannot wait for this game even more. It's so PRETTY. I am so glad that I preordered it from the states because I think waiting those extra two weeks would kill me.Even though I'm supposed to be doing uni work instead of playing Pokemon for those two weeks.
After we all bought things, underground'ed watched a couple of four way battles (I wanted to take part, but it was only Level 100 teams, and my babies aren't quite there yet :c) we ended up going to Wagamama and hung out there for a while. The server we had complimented me on my Axel Chakram that hangs off of my DS and he was like OH YEAH, THAT'S FROM KINGDOM HEARTS RIGHT? THAT IS SO COOL. But basically EVERYONE we spoke to today that was working behind a counter was like OH YEAH, POKEMON, THAT IS SO COOL in different stores. It was so awesome.
We traded and stuff whilst waiting for my food, and when Claire gives me my trade (I was still EV training at the time 8|b) I'm going to have widespread Pokerus on my Diamond game. 8D
Oh and also, remember that Pokemon card pack I got? I convinced everyone else to get one too, and I now have the new Ampharos and Mareep cards. SO. FUCKING. CUTE *___* I was so tempted to buy another one so I could try for Flaaffy, but lack of fundage stopped me from doing so.
Then I stopped EV training after we got the train back from Cardiff. After doing it all day my Mareep is only level 13. ONLY 8 MORE TO GO. Fuck you Magikarps and your high speed EV stat giving capabilities. Fuck you with an old rod.
AND THEN WE CAME HOME.
All in all it was a really fun day, and I am definitely going to another event when I get the chance to. I have to go back to working on my Animatic now, and I don't want to 8( I want to draw and make icons of the pokemon cards I got, sob. But if I don't get this done I think my director will actually have an aneurism.

For training your Mareep: have you tried giving it an experience share and then having one of your higher-level Pokemons battle stuff like Fearows and Raticates? I just like busting through the first 20 levels or so is all. XD

I WISH YOU DO TOO. But you have lots of other awesome things that we don't have, so it's only fair that we have something xD
I can't give it EXP share because it's holding a Power Anklet, which boosts the Speed Stat when you level it up using Effort Value leveling. It's rather complicated and I still don't quite understand it myself, but for every Magikarp you kill (all pokemon have different Effort Values) you get a little extra boost when you level up in the Speed stat. Basically, I'm levelling the long way around because when I eventually get it that high, it's speed stat will be through the roof, which is what I'm aiming for 83 Otherwise, I'd just train like normal xD EV training is LABORIOUS BUT PAYS OFF IN THE LONG RUN.

Ahh, I had forgotten about the power anklet business. :O That would be a good way to get speed up really well! I have done some EV training, but I probably haven't maxed them out as well as I could (since for my last team I did EV training for two traits I wanted them to have, like speed/special attack, HP/attack, etc.)
