SO I went to

hikaridonya's house today to hang out and take a break from stuff. We were both super exhausted, so we didn't do much but mooch, but she has bought an xbox 360 so I got to play Final Fantasy XIII on it. I told myself I'd only play the first 10 minutes or so.

...Three hours later I was still running through it, complaining that I had a splitting headache and I should stop but can't because it is too fucking pretty. I had to find a save point (which I wasn't originally going to do either) and make Donya take the controller away from me because I could've easily have played for HOURS.

My thoughts so far:

OMG SNOW STOP SAYING HERO.
OMG VANILLE STOP BEING SO FUCKING PERKY AND WALK LIKE A NORMAL PERSON
OMG IF YOU WERE AN ANIMAL, HOPE, YOU'D BE A HEDGEHOG WITH ALL THAT CURLING UP IN THE FACE OF DANGER YOU DO STOP BEING SO FUCKING EMO also he reminds me of roxas.
NO SERIOUSLY VANILLE, WHAT ACCENT IS THAT EVEN
LIGHTNING STOP BEING LIKE CLOUD IT'S ANNOYING. I like it when she punches the characters I don't like and rolls her eyes at them. She seems to share my annoyances.

Holy crap the details they did to this are stunning. HIS MOUTH IS MOVING WHEN IT'S IN PLAY MODE AND HE'S TALKING TO ME WHEN I WALK PAST, HOLY FUCK

So far, my favourite characters are Sazh and his Chocobo because he's a fucking legend, and that Blonde kid right at the beginning who was adorable and fighting with the resistance and... wearing goggles. I'll give you two guesses why he is my favourite. It's a shame he's not a playable character 8|

So in summary, I was shouting at the characters and complaining about the battle system, but about 2 hours in I got accustomed to it and was really enjoying it. I'm undoubtedly going back for more 8|b

I AM IN THE BIT WITH THE FROZEN CRYSTAL LAKE OF DOOM AND THEY ARE ALL OH SHIT WE ARE L'CIE AND EVERYONE IS SAD AND SNOW HAS BUGGERED OFF.

NO SHE'S NOT BADASS YET. I MEAN, SHE IS SORT OF, BUT SHE'S STILL ON MY 'ANNOYING' LIST 8|

OH MY GOODNESS YES. The sheer amount of DETAIL they put into the crystal is amazing. I was just running around, looking in awe.

The game is v. fuckin' good about character development. :3 (Vanille's accent is Australian but, ah-- "bogan". Lots of the sharper twanging.)

Not gonna lie, I wanted to punch Hope through a wall and Snow was almost as irritating, but the more obnoxious aspects of their personality fade quite a bit.

Also nnnngh when you see Fang. Nnnngh. *keeps the hell away from spoilers*

WILL ALSO NOTE THAT VANILLE'S VA IS *ACTUALLY* AUSTRALIAN B|;;; there's been some confusion about that. Fang's, too.

See that's where I wasn't sure. Sometimes she sounds Australian but sometimes she sounds british and sometimes she sounds A HORRIFYING MIX OF THE TWO, so I get really confused. It sounds like she's trying a bit too hard.

I've already seen Fang from the trailers, and I have to say, even though I'd never met her, she was instantly my favourite character for BADASS reasons.

They're awful lmfao. I don't understand why they can't just give their characters Japanese names that would make sense and not sound dumb. Or at least actual English names not random words lol.

Fang is v. best character. She's the only one who doesn't start off annoying as fuck. She just goes straight into fucking awesome.

Hope gets better, and he gets better relatively soon. It's almost like the creators realized that he was a whiny loser!

Snow does not get better. Snow is good for getting punched. No, seriously, that's his actual job.

He has the highest natural Magic stat in the game, so it would be pretty silly if he never learned how to fight properly.

Vanille doesn't really get less perky, but she has a really, really good reason for being so perky in the first place.

THANKFULLY EVERYONE GETS BETTER BUT THE GAME CONTINUES TO BE PRETTY :D

Also, Vanille's accent is vaguely Australian, but she's actually trying to mask it because SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER.

Also, I totally knew you'd get sucked in. Despite how whiny and annoying the characters are right at the start. Battle system will start getting better again, soon. And I told you from the start that you could just create another save slot :P As long as you didn't overwrite mine!
